Let me tell you how I started designing outdoor enclosures for cats!
I’ve been a cat lover since I was three when I received my first stuffed animal cat named Fluffy. Not long after, I convinced my family to rescue real cats — Rosie, Kit, and Paws. During college, I had my buddy Parker. Most recently, I had Ty, who passed away and inspired me to create Tailored Catios.
Now, my home is filled with love and purrs from my current kitty family: litter brothers Milo and Whiskey (two foster fails) and their new sis, a black kitten named Cherry. These kitties are my enthusiastic assistants, always eager to test out and inspire new catio designs.
I knew they wanted to explore, but I needed a safe way to let my cats outside…
For most of my life, I kept my cats indoors. I lost a few to predators when I was younger, so I couldn’t bear to let them outside, even though I knew they longed to be out there.
But then came Ty, my Bengal. He was my adventure kitty. He loved leash walks and ‘meowed’ for them daily. So, I did what any cat person would do — I got him a catio. It gave him access to the great outdoors, safely.
Ty loved that catio. Watching him enjoy it was one of my greatest joys.
Sharing Ty’s Legacy & Love for the Outdoors, Safely
Sadly, Ty passed away from HCM far too young. I was heartbroken. That year, I intentionally slowed down to reflect on what mattered most to me. And that’s when I realized I could help other cats enjoy the outdoors safely, just like Ty.
I dove into learning everything about designing catios. I shadowed the Catio Guy and his team in LA for a few days, whose knowledge changed everything for me.
After 11 years in corporate jobs, I knew it was time to turn my crafty, creative energy toward my passion: Cats! Watching my clients’ cats enjoy their catio just like Ty did, I knew I had found my purpose.
I’m here to help you create the purrrfect catio.
